Monitor

With Monitor you can take control over your system's quality on a daily basis. Monitor is a configurable framework with a set of components that can be used to build a software quality monitoring system based on source code measurement and auditing.

A Monitor system set up for a software system under investigation consists of the following key components:

The source code is accessed at the central configuration management system and is checked out on a regular basis, for example, at the end of each working day or weekly. It is then automatically analyzed with our source code analysis tools (Columbus/CAN and SourceAudit) and the desired quality-related measurements are performed. These include source code metrics, source code auditing and other indicators useful for quality assessment. The results of each measurement are stored in an SQL database, which are then accessible through a web-based query interface.

The query interface provides various possiblities for browsing through the measured values, including comparisons, charts, timelines, histograms and indicators for changes. All results are linked back to the source code.

Our current Monitor framework provides ready components for analyzing large C/C++ systems. These use the same basic source code analysis technologies, which are used in the Columbus and SourceAudit products.

Features:

  • No supplemental license costs are required (only free and open source technologies are used).
  • Easy customization of the analysis tools using our powerful compiler-wrapping technology.
  • Support for well-known open source versioning systems like CVS and Subversion.
  • No need for workstation installation. The client runs in a usual web-browser (Java applet client).
  • Customized queries, possibility to save custom query scenarios.
  • Powerful filtering and query narrowing possibilities.
  • Advanced metrics display, like relative values and change ratios.

Monitor needs to be customized for the platform and subject system. If you are interested in the details of the technology and about how it applies to your system do not hesitate to contact us.

Public Monitor databases
